Esther Chew Business Development Manager

Let's learn about the newest member of our team: JM Security's Business Development Manager, Esther Chew!

What is your full name?

Esther Li-Ning Chew

Where did you grow up?

Mississauga, but I moved to London four years ago and I plan on sticking around for as long as possible.

Where did you go to school?

I just graduated from the Ivey Business School at Western University - go stangs!

What’s your superpower (What’s your role on the team)?

As Business Development Manager, I am excited to find new and creative ways to see this business grow through sales and marketing. JM Security is a hidden gem in Southwestern Ontario - hidden but definitely the best. In my opinion, it is clear that local businesses serve customers and their communities better than national competitors. However, sometimes those local businesses, including JM Security, aren’t as well known. It’s my job to change that!

Why did you join JM Security Canada?

I firmly believe in all the things that JM Security stands for. At the heart of our business is a desire to see our community become a safer place for everyone, and that is a beautiful thing to work towards.

Also, even prior to joining JM, I knew most of the existing team members and I knew that they would want to see me succeed and grow just as much as they want those things for the company.

What do you like most about working at JM?

I am excited to see the real-life impact that our company has on its customers and community. We aren’t like the other “big players”, who are often impersonal and distant. We view our customers as a part of the family and so we care about them as we care for family. We exist because we want to help, and the fact that the whole team is united on that front? Incredible.

This job also gives me a great opportunity to use the skills that I learned at school and to continue learning, and I am so thankful for that.

What do you do for fun?

I’m a huge extrovert so “fun”, to me, looks like anything that involves spending time with other people - volunteering in the community, playing ultimate frisbee and trying out new recipes with friends are just a few examples. I also love to travel and to make memories and the ability to look back on them, so I enjoy dabbling in videography and photography.

What’s your favourite food?

Bubble tea. (That’s more of a drink though… not sure if that counts)

Pad Thai, pho and dumplings are probably my top three, followed closely by cheesecake!

What's your favourite holiday?

Fun fact: I was born on St. Patrick's Day, but that's actually not my favourite holiday.

My favourite? It's probably a tie between Christmas and Easter. Both are wonderful opportunities to celebrate Jesus with my church community.
